Sandstone
We have provided scans of the Indian sandstones that are regularly available in stock. Wherever possible, we have provided scans of four square tiles placed together so that you can get a rough idea of the variation of each type. The most popular varieties of sandstone are quarried in north India in the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Click here for more details.
Slate
Slate is quarried in several locations both in the north and south India. Several Indian slates have a strong variation in color that gives them a rustic charm. Wherever possible we have provided a four-tile variation of each slate type to give a rough idea of what the strong variation in color would look like as a covering for your project. Limestone
Limestone is quarried as slabs or blocks depending on the layer thickness of the sedimentary rock. At Slate Capital, we process slabs into various popular formats for use in buildings. We also process blocks into slabs and tiles. Click here for more details.
Quartzite
In India, quartzite is mainly quarried in Rajasthan State. They are processed in several formats for use indoors and outdoors. The color variations are subtle to strong, adding to its rustic charm. Being metamorphic rocks, they occur along with schists. Some of the listed materials may be a combination of quartzite and schists depending on the mineral composition and structure. Marble
In the domestic market, marble is the most extensively used natural stone for buildings. Marble is quarried in the block form and sold as polished tiles and slabs. We have chosen a few colors that are popular worldwide. However, they are processed as tiles and slabs and used in areas not exposed to acids. Click here for more details.
Stone Formats for Buildings, Construction, Gardens, and Landscaping
Slate Capital processes natural stone in several formats used for the interior and exterior of buildings as well as paving, gardens, and landscaping.
Natural Stone Tiles and Slabs
Natural stones are in use as the building material of choice since the Stone Age. With time, processing techniques for tiles and slabs have advanced through the ages from the Baroque and Rococo Eras to modern-day architecture with skyscrapers standing tall. The tiles and slabs are in flooring, walls, patios, and pool areas as well as artificial water bodies and fountains, decks, and many more applications both inside and outside buildings. Paving Stones, Stepping Stones, and Cobblestones
Paving stones are thicker variations of tiles and slabs that are used for sidewalks, pavements, and garden paths. Stepping stones are similar to paving stones but rather than being joined together in the project, they are processed in various shapes or ovals and circles and placed individually. Slate Capital also processes cobblestones that can be placed on a sand bed with minimum binders and yet provide a durable sidewalk, pavement, or an entire street. Click here for more details.
Staircases, Treads, and Risers
Natural stone is the most durable material to use in the main stairway system which mainly includes treads, risers, and nosings. Click here for more details.
Pool Coping
Pool areas are usually wet and may be affected by pollution. Natural stone is the best choice for pool areas as it is durable and can offer excellent resistance to slipping. Pool copings separate the pool from the deck area. Click here for more details.
Mosaics and Borders
Small pieces of natural stones cut in square shapes, and rectangular shapes are usually pasted on a backing in a set pattern or combination of a single type or multiple types of natural stones and are used for backsplashes and borders. Click here for more details.
Pattern sets in natural stones
A preset pattern of one or more natural stones may be either fixed on a backing or boxed as a selling unit. Click here for more details.
